Biography
Duo Shi received his PhD from Olin Business School, Washington University in St. Louis, in 2018. Prior to that, he graduated from the Hua Loo-Keng Talent Program in Mathematics at the University of Science and Technology of China. During his undergraduate studies, he also spent one year as a visiting student at the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Duo’s research applies analytical modeling to address operational challenges faced by firms and government agencies. His recent work focuses on the operational implications of Industry 4.0, food and agricultural supply chains, ESG in operations, content operations, and retail operations. He serves on the editorial review board of Production and Operations Management and regularly reviews for Information Systems Research, Journal of Operations Management, Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, and Operations Research.
At CUHK-Shenzhen, Duo has received the 2021 School of Management and Economics Research Award, the 2022 School of Management and Economics Undergraduate Teaching Award, and the 2023 Presidential Exemplary Teaching Award. His papers have earned multiple awards at leading conferences, including student paper competition awards co-authored with his students. In addition, he has been awarded two grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China as the principal investigator.
