The programme is divided into two majors: Information Management and Business Analysis. Students can choose either of the majors according to their interests.
Class of 2023 Profile
Below is demographics and other background information on our MSc IMBA 2023 entering class. Note the wide variety of backgrounds and experiences that composes this class cohort. This illustrates the rich experiences that our students can have as they engage with one another outside of the classroom, learning from each other based on their varied backgrounds. This data also shows that SFI’s MSc IMBA program welcomes students from all backgrounds and fields of study; there are multiple paths to entry into our program. We encourage you to apply!
There are 102 freshmen in the 2023 IMBA class, including 47 students in the IM direction and 55 students in the BA direction, 40 males and 62 females (the male-female ratio is about 4:6).
Among the 102 freshmen, 83.3% of the students are from 985/211 project colleges (including C9), 9.8% are from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), and 6.9% are from overseas colleges and other colleges. In terms of undergraduate degrees, most of them are from science and engineering (58.8%) and business (40.2%), and a small number of humanities and social sciences related majors (1%). The language scores of admitted students are IELTS: 7.0 and TOEFL: 97.
96% of admitted students have rich internship experience, and the average internship duration is 6 months.

Demographics of IM and BA Cohorts
A closer look at the student composition of the individual majors shows 87.2% of students in the IM program are from 985/211 project universities; 4.3% are from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen; 4.3% are from overseas universities; and 4.3% are from other universities.
Moving to the BA program, we see that 80% of these students are from 985/211 universities; 14.5% are from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen; 3.6% are from overseas universities; and 1.8% are from other universities.

Most incoming students have backgrounds in business (40.2%) and science and engineering (58.8%), with a small number of students majoring in humanities and social sciences (1%).
In the IM direction, 83% of the admitted students majored in science and engineering; 17% majored in business. For BA majors, 38.2% of students majored in science and engineering; 60% of students majored in business; and 1.8% majored in humanities and social sciences.
The average grade point average for freshmen is 3.37/4.0, and the average score is 84.49/100. Among them, the average GPA of freshmen in the IM direction is 3.42/4.0, 85.47/100; the average GPA of
freshmen in the BA direction is 3.34/4.0, 83.52/100.

English Language scores
The average language scores of the admitted students in 2023 are IELTS: 7.0 and TOEFL: 97. Among them, the average IELTS score of freshmen in the IM direction is 7.0 and the average TOEFL score is 91; the average IELTS score of freshmen in the BA direction is 7.0 and the average TOEFL score is 102.

Internship Experience
The admitted freshmen have rich internship experience, with an average internship duration of 6 months. 96.1% of the admitted students have rich internship experiences, covering a wide range of industry backgrounds. These are mainly in the financial industry (37.8%) and Internet technology (32.6%). Other experiences are in consulting and accounting firms (18.4%), state-owned enterprises, and state agencies and institutions (11.2%).
Internship positions include strategic research, industry research, data analysis, quantitative analysis, financial auditing, risk control and financing, investment management, human resources, actuarial science, consulting, big data, software development, product manager, information technology, etc. Internship departments include financial accounting department, risk control and financing department, financial market department, investment banking department, securities sales department, actuarial planning department, data analysis department, strategic analysis group, platform research and development department, etc.
Internship Experience - IM
Among the freshmen of IM, 95.7% of them have internship experience, and the internship companies include financial industry (Industrial Bank, CITIC Bank, China Merchants Bank, Pudong Development Bank, Ping An Securities, Guosen Securities, Minsheng Securities, etc.), Internet technology industry (Baidu, Tencent, ByteDance, etc.), consulting and accounting firms (Deloitte, KPMG), state-owned enterprises, state organs and institutions.
Internship Experience - BA
Among BA freshmen, 96.4% have internship experience, and the internship companies include financial industry (CITIC Securities, Galaxy Securities, Industrial Securities, Huatai Securities, Guoxin Securities, Guotai Junan Securities, Orient Securities, Bank of China, China Guangfa Bank, CITIC Bank, China Merchants Bank, Ping An Bank, Haizheng Futures), Internet technology industry (Huawei, Tencent, Alibaba, ByteDance, Vivo, Weilai, etc.), consulting and accounting firms (KPMG, Deloitte, PwC, Accenture, Ipsos, etc.), state-owned enterprises, state organs and institutions.
