The programme is divided into two majors: Information Management and Business Analysis. Students can choose either of the majors according to their interests.
  • Kang, Xiaotian

The IMBA programmme is designed to develop a new generation of professionals with strong business skills and deep knowledge, especially in core areas like business intuition, execution insight, and advanced analytical abilities. Throughout the program, I experienced a seamless integration of business and technology, building a solid foundation for my career growth.

In my previous internships, I worked on projects addressing data-driven business challenges with a focus on achieving specific business outcomes. The theoretical frameworks in finance, monetary policy, and operations management equipped me to create comprehensive strategies from a business perspective and translate them into effective practices. My work included completing user profiling, developing association algorithm recommendations, performing venture capital analyses, and conducting other predictive assessments. Additionally, I utilized AI tools and implemented algorithms to solve complex business problems involving over a million data points, applying R for statistical analysis, and leveraging big data and Python for data management and model building.

  • Li, Chengyuan

For internship experience, I was selected for Tencent’s Rhino Bird Elite Talent Training Program. I’ve also worked on several impactful projects, including the open-source RecBole project (https://recbole.io/), which was featured at CIKM 2021 and has earned over 1.6k stars on GitHub.

Academically, I am currently a research assistant at the Blockchain and Intelligent Technology Center at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), where my primary focus is on blockchain research. My technical skills include proficiency in Python, C++, Golang, SQL, R, Tableau, MATLAB, and other tools.

In the IMBA program, I’ve further developed my business analysis skills and honed my ability to turn data insights into actionable business decisions. The program also covers many applications of AI in today’s digital economy, equipping me with solid skills to explore deeper levels of business value.

  • Sui, Xinyi

After receiving a return offer from my summer internship, I’m now working in a Data Science role at Meituan. Since my undergraduate internship, I’ve developed a strong passion for data-driven roles, which led me to pursue an IMBA to further build my knowledge and project experience. I’ve also been actively exploring data decision-making in different industries, companies, and roles, seeking diverse internship opportunities to broaden my experience.

The combination of learning and internships during the IMBA program has not only strengthened my core skills but has also prompted me to explore the nuances between different specializations and helped me identify where my true interests lie.

  • Zhang, Yu

I graduated from the School of Engineering at Peking University with a bachelor's degree, so I have a solid background in engineering and a good grasp of math. Over time, I’ve also gained a lot of hands-on experience applying artificial intelligence to both data and text analysis.

Right now, I’m interning at CMB Zhiyuan Capital, where my main focus is research and analysis around dual carbon emissions. As data analysis becomes more widely used across industries, the expectations for analysts like me have shifted. It’s no longer just about following steps; there’s a bigger emphasis on understanding the deeper logic behind the data.

The IMBA programme is ideal for this, offering both solid theoretical courses and lots of practical learning. It’s not only helping me get into the details of data analysis, but it’s also building my independent analytical skills so I can take on new challenges as they come.
